Rule Financial responds to dramatic growth in prime services and securities finance and makes senior appointments

(PRWeb UK) August 17, 2010

Rule Financial, the leading independent business and IT consultancy which focuses on investment banking, announces the expansion of its consultancy team to support a growing demand from clients for advisory services to support their rapid growth plans in the aftermath of the credit crunch.

Chris Potts, CEO comments “Whilst an effect of the downturn was for clients to downsize and consolidate, we are now witnessing many banks having weathered the storm, being extremely well-positioned to expand their business. Securities Finance and Prime Services are two areas where we are seeing exceptional growth; however, the banks are often hampered by outdated IT systems. We are ideally placed to assist them with strategic guidance, ensuring that they are not constrained in responding to the market opportunity by their legacy infrastructure.”

Kevin Neville (appointed joint head of the expanded Rule Prime Services and Securities Finance Practice) comments “The market has definitely moved…the smaller, more cautious investment banks now have an unprecedented opportunity to capitalise on the weakened state of the major players. Those banks that are willing to embrace new technologies will definitely win more business from their larger competitors.”

Kevin Neville brings unrivalled front office experience, along with deep understanding of all asset classes and trading methods. Before joining Rule Financial, Kevin gained extensive practical experience from a number of investment banking roles, including; Head of Design for the London Stock Exchange, running the Equity Derivatives Proprietary trading desk for NatWest Markets, Head of Equity Arbitrage at HSBC, and managing a mid-sized hedge fund.

Alec Nelson (appointed joint head of the expanded Rule Prime Services and Securities Finance Practice), comments “We are seeing renewed interest from many banks starting major overhaul and upgrade programmes, seeking capacity to support their ambitious business growth plans. Our specialist teams with backgrounds in trading, finance, operations and IT, enable us to accelerate the business benefits of a banks’ programme, whilst also mitigating risk.”

Alec Nelson has consulted on business landscape, architecture and strategy for a number of leading investment banks. Before joining Rule Financial, Alec worked at Morgan Stanley for nearly twenty years, where he was responsible for the International Securities Lending, Prime Brokerage and Treasury systems. Working closely with the Front Office, Finance and Operations, he understands the tremendous value that global, integrated, 24×7 systems can bring to such clients.

I must admit that this is one great insight. It surely gives a company the opportunity to get in on the ground floor and really take part in creating something special and tailored to their needs.
