Youth at Risk Celebrates 16th Annual “Day in the Park”
NEW YORK (PRWEB) July 22, 2005
Youth at Risk, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to transforming the chaotic lives of young people through persistent and compassionate mentoring in New York City, will is hosting its 16th Annual Day in the Park Event. The event will take place Saturday, July 23rd, starting at 10:00am, in Prospect Park Tennis House South, on Prospect Park and 9th street. The purpose of this event is to unite all those who participated in Youth at RiskÂs various intervention programs, young people, their mentors, volunteers, and their families.
ÂThis event is just another way we at Youth at Risk demonstrate our dedication to creating a more positive community for the young people in New York, said Claudette CÂFaison, Executive Director of Youth at Risk. Since 1989, Youth at Risk has been a leader in youth empowerment and mentoring. Our mission is to decrease the at-risk behavior of youth and to enhance the effectiveness of the people who live and work with them.
Youth at Risk provides one-to-one mentors for youth from underserved communities between the ages of 12-21 whose circumstances and environment put them at risk for failure academically, socially, emotionally and physically. We work with youth and their families who are Âfalling through the cracks  teenage parents, violent youth, fatherless young men, youth with disabilities, families in shelters, and HIV positive parents.
